Criteria for articles about issues within the Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community

  • Your article must address an issue/problem within the BAME community that is often silenced or seen as a “cultural”
  • The title of your article must be catchy to gain viewers interest.
  • Minimum (700) – Maximum (1,200) words, Arial 12, line spacing 1.5.
  • You can use, titles, bullet points, numbering and examples within your article.
  • Please Note: You can write about a topic that is already on the website however, it must look at the subject from a different perspective (i: e: FMG – this can be looked at from the male’s perspective, from a child’s perspective, from the community’s perspective). Do not repeat what has already been written in a different style of writing.
  • Make sure you proof read your article and ensure that correct grammar is used.
  • Do not use any derogatory language in your article.
  • Suggest a way of addressing the issue raised in you article (please see examples of articles already on the website for further details).
  • Your article must be written in 3rd person (except: quoting Citing, referencing).
  • At the end of your article please write your full name, the town you live in and the country you live in (i.e., Adam Smith, Coventry UK).
  • Your article must be referenced!

Criteria for articles about personal experiences faced as a result of “cultural or silenced” practices within the BAME Community

  • Your article must address a personal experience faced related to a BAME issue (i.e.: FGM, black on black racism, forced marriage, sexual abuse, bleaching etc)
  • Your article must have a catchy title related to your experience to gain viewers interest
  • Minimum (500) – Maximum (700) words, Arial 12, line spacing 1.5
  • Please Note: You can write about a topic that is already on the website however, it must look at the subject from YOUR personal experience
  • You can write in 1st person
  • No referencing required as this is a personal experience however, if you choose to quote a website, book, article, journal etc please see above for the referencing criteria.
  • Do not use any derogatory language in your article.
  • Proof read your article and ensure that the correct grammar is used.
  • If applicable, please advise the public of what can be done to overcome the challenge/practice experienced (please see examples of articles already on the website)
  • At the end of your article please write your name (first name or anonymous), the town you live in and the country you live in (i.e., Adam, Coventry UK or Anonymous, Coventry UK).
